They first appear in the first game, ''[[Crash Bandicoot (game)|Crash Bandicoot]]''.  

In the main series, Crash can usually jump on a Bounce Box up to five times, and each bounce earns him two Wumpa Fruits. Bounce Boxes often appear in pairs, one of them being directly above the other, and Crash can bounce between them to obtain their Wumpa Fruit before they break.

In the racing titles, racers can drive into Wumpa Crates to earn some Wumpa Fruit.

 

In ''[[Crash Bandicoot 2: N-Tranced]]'', during the [[Island Intro]] level, [[Aku Aku]] calls them '''Bouncy Crates''', even though the game uses this as the exact name for [[Arrow Crate]]s.
