Coco Bandicoot was created as the younger sister of Crash Bandicoot for ''Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back''. After Naughty Dog removed Tawna from the series at Sony's demand, they later suggested to Naughty Dog to create another female character with a more "juvenile" archetype. She would serve as Crash's younger sister and replace Tawna's role as the series' main female supporting character.
