'''Doctor Nefarious Tropy''', often known as '''N. Tropy''' for short, is recurring villain in the ''[[Crash Bandicoot series|Crash Bandicoot]]'' series, his first appearance being ''[[Crash Bandicoot: Warped]]''. N. Tropy is the self-proclaimed master of time and quantum warp technology. He is an acquaintance of [[Uka Uka]], and they usually try and work together to conquer the world or universe. It is commonly stated that N. Tropy causes time paradoxes for laughs. Tropy's shortened name is a pun on the term "entropy", a measurement of chaos, randomness, and disorder.

According to the ''Crash Bandicoot: Warped'' developers, N. Tropy was created because they needed a time traveling boss to correspond to the game's plot.{{Citation needed}}

According to the flashback tapes with [[Coco Bandicoot]] in ''[[Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time]]'', N. Tropy know Neo Cortex in December 6th, 1997 where he shows himself better than the same because of his time travel and animal experiments are stupid.<ref>'''N. Brio's words''': "''"Master, uh, Dr N. N. Tropy made his debut in ''Warped'' as the third boss in the game. Upon his defeat, the [[Time Twister Machine]] fell into disarray, trapping Cortex, Tropy, and Uka Uka in a time prison and morphing the first two into infants.

N. Tropy plays a minor role in ''[[Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex]]'', in which he attends Uka Uka's bad guy convention. He acts as an obstacle throughout the levels in the game. His name is misspelled "N. Trophy" in the game's credits.

In ''[[Crash Bandicoot 2: N-Tranced]]'', N. Tropy is entrusted by Uka Uka with the with the task of aiding him in universal domination. To do this, N. Tropy kidnaps Coco and Crunch, as well as Fake Crash, who he believes to be the real Crash. He then enlists [[N. Trance]] to hypnotise them into joining him. However, Crash manages to turn the bandicoots back to normal, before defeating N. Trance and N. Tropy.

In ''[[Crash Twinsanity]]'', Tropy is the fifth boss alongside [[Doctor Nitrus Brio]] when they, using the vast resources from [[Doctor N. Gin]]'s company, hunted for treasure but were stopped by [[Spyro the Dragon]]. It appears that N. Tropy is no longer working alongside Cortex.

In the cart racing games, ''[[Crash Team Racing]]'' and ''[[Crash Nitro Kart]]'', N. Tropy is master of the relic races, and can be unlocked by beating all his ghosts in Time Trial mode.

N.Tropy makes a cameo in ''[[Crash Boom Bang!]]'' in the "Silhouette Quiz" minigame.

==Personality and appearance==
N. Tropy is a nefarious, intelligent and smug character. Like [[Neo Cortex|Cortex]], he is very arrogant and short-tempered, venting his frustrations at his associates or blaming them for his own mistakes. In several games, N. Tropy becomes frustrated when he repeatedly misses Crash. This causes him to become tired, leaving him vulnerable to attack.

N. Tropy's original appearance reflects an unhealthy obsession with time. His skin color is light blue. He has long eyebrows and two equally long and skinny beards, giving him a vaguely Asian appearance. He wears a golden-brown, smog-producing, piston-driven time machine, which appears to obscure his lab coat. He wears a tall hat with a small silver fork (similar to the one he carries) on top and a small clock on the front. His legs are long and skinny.
