Species Cat and bat fusion

Catbat is a playable character in the upcoming game Crash Team Rumble, having first appeared as a cameo in Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time. They are a fusion of a cat and a bat.

It seems they may be a foil of Dingodile, as cats parallel with dogs (or dingos) in pop culture, as well as Dingodile having feuded with the bats of Mosquito Marsh during the events of Crash 4.

Creation

Designer and artist Nicholas Kole has stated that the character was originally designed as nonbinary and uses gender neutral pronouns, although this may have changed later in development. Since they are a playable character, they were designed to look more legible and appealing than monster-y.
