Gem Cups are a recurring feature in the Crash Bandicoot franchise.

Overview

cup tournaments that appear in Crash Team Racing, Crash Nitro Kart and Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled. They consist of four specific race courses (three in Crash Nitro Kart) where the player's racer must race against seven others, with the goal being to win first on each track and thus the cup itself. When a race is completed each racer earns a certain number of points depending on their ranking, with the winner receiving the most points. Racers with the lowest rankings receive no points. At the end of a race, if two or more racers are tied with the same total number of points, the game randomly selects a winner. The player is not required to win every race, and must have the most points by the end of the Gem Cup to win.

Each Gem Cup is named after a color — red, blue, green, yellow, and purple — and completing each one unlocks a character and a gem of the corresponding color. In Crash Team Racing, the Purple Gem Cup features boss races specifically. The Yellow Gem Cup does not appear in Crash Nitro Kart.
