Tawna, also known as Tawna Bandicoot, is a female mutant bandicoot with blonde hair that appears in the first Crash Bandicoot game as Crash Bandicoot's girlfriend. She became absent in later entries in the series, albeit with cameos, with Coco Bandicoot serving as the female supporting character of the series in her stead. She eventually reappeared in Crash Boom Bang! as a playable character, and would later appear in Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled in the same role.
While Tawna was designed to be Crash's love interest in her first appearance, following games have altered or not made reference to this aspect of her character; as a way to explain her disappearance in Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, the Japanese manual of the game states that she broke up with Crash, being romantically interested in Pinstripe Potoroo afterwards. This is later referenced in Crash Boom Bang!, wherein her character profile states she is "crazy about Pinstripe." Other games in the series don't reference Crash or Tawna's relationships.
Although she doesn't appear in the game, an alternate universe counterpart of Tawna appears as a playable character in Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time.
